Laurence King, Non-Executive Chairman - The ORIS Group
With many years experience in retail Laurence King has worked in finance and retail operations with a number of the UKs leading retailers including department store group Debenhams, The Burton Group, The Arcadia Group, BHS and DIY retailer B&Q; where he was Director of Profit Protection. Laurence has helped all these companies develop a profit protection culture and in every case has delivered substantial reductions in shrinkage. He also worked in France for the DIY chain Castorama, helping them establish a long term plan of activities to reduce losses.
Laurence’s key skill is focusing retail businesses on the things that make a real difference to shrinkage. He has found that in many companies while there is always a lot happening to reduce shrinkage the solutions do not always fit the challenges. There is not enough ambition or focus on the activities that will have a significant impact on reducing real loss.
